Motorway expansion: NO

The planned expansion of the motorways with additional lanes is not a citizen-oriented solution to our traffic problems, but an expensive and inefficient patchwork. Our government is irresponsible with public money - be it through payments running into billions for Ukraine or through transport projects that do not bring any noticeable improvement. Money that is channelled into such nonsensical projects is literally thrown out of the window, while office workers, farmers and family businesses have to deal with real problems on a daily basis.

We are not against cars. For many people, they are indispensable - be it for travelling to work, providing for their family or running their business. What we do reject, however, is the blind belief that more lanes will improve traffic flow in the long term. In Graubünden and the Engadin, for example, all tourist traffic used to flow through small villages, which led to enormous congestion. It took the construction of tunnels and bypasses to relieve traffic and significantly improve the quality of life in the affected regions.

To reduce traffic jams and congestion on existing roads, society also needs to shift working hours. Public transport is currently only running at around 10% capacity because everyone is travelling at the same rush hour. If we make working hours more flexible, we can equalise traffic peaks and use public transport more effectively.

We should also not forget: Electric cars also need motorways and roads - a fact that is often overlooked by the lifestyle left when they call for the expansion of public transport. That's why we rely on well thought-out transport planning that offers real solutions and meets the needs of all road users.

For a citizen-centred transport policy!

Rent votes: 2 x NO

The planned changes to tenancy law are a creeping attack on tenants' rights. The sole aim is to give landlords more power over their tenants by dismantling tenants' rights bit by bit - subtly, so that it is less noticeable. We will not allow this! A double NO is the clear answer here.

Instead of weakening tenants' rights, we should concentrate on forcing large corporations out of the housing market. The property markets have long since been overrun by profit-driven conglomerates whose sole aim is to generate high returns without regard for the actual housing needs of the population. Rents are rising immeasurably, without any improvement in performance. This plays into the hands of landlords, while the resident population has to pay more and more for less and less space.

We need a citizen-centred housing policy that is based on the needs of the population, not on the profit interests of large investors. More living space must be created that meets people's needs. That is why we say a decisive NO to these two proposals!

For people's oriented switzerland!

EFAS health insurance vote: NO

The planned reform of the health insurance sector is an overloaded and confusing change to the law that is barely comprehensible and only gives the health insurance groups even more power. It is not even certain whether the health insurance companies will have to pay more at all after the reform - it seems as if the state is only supposed to take on more costs while the health insurance companies try to withdraw and maximise their profits.

What we need is a fundamental reform of the healthcare system: the proliferation of expensive private solutions, especially by private hospitals, is leading to enormous cost increases. These facilities compete with expensive specialised equipment, which drives up costs unnecessarily. It would make much more sense to concentrate on specialised public hospitals for highly specialised procedures, such as heart transplants, and general hospitals for other medical treatments. Greed for profit in the healthcare sector makes no sense! Of course there should be optimisation and savings, but not at the expense of health.

In addition, we need to relieve healthcare staff from burnouts and staff shortages. State support for healthcare professions can help to counteract these challenges and ensure high-quality care. In a Switzerland that is close to its citizens, the well-being of the population must take centre stage, not the wallets of health insurance companies. That is why we say NO to this reform!
